Although the 80-200 AFS is a still a great lens that was ahead of it's time, we finally have a worthy replacement in the 70-200 E FL. The first two 70-200's weren't actually upgrades, but hey, Nikon has to put out something to try to separate you from your money. The decision between the two lenses is pretty simple really.

Summary The Nikon Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S may not be much better than its F-mount predecessor, the Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f2.8E VR. But that is good news: the F-Nikkor was simply the best 70-200mm f2.8 zoom lens for Nikon cameras and still is an excellent lens.
