For me, 4Matic/AWD is a must in the winter (plus winter tires). Priceless this winter. It is likely that you would never see a difference between 4-Matic vs. FWD in the rain unless you are intentionally trying to engage the AWD. Snow is a different story though. The FWD CLA250 does extremely well even in the rain.
