On an E30 you will need to get to the vent box which is under the black holder which is found under the battery (the picture shows the hose already routed: keep reading). Under the black tray you will find a white box like shown, the bottom side of the box goes into the hole which is where the gasses are vented to the outside. The installation of the tray requires locating a minimum of two bolt locations to secure the tray. The NAPA Solutions tray has multiple bolt locations available.
